Even though I as very excited to try out this tool, I was still a bit afraid it wasn’t going to pull it off. But WOW, I’m impressed after giving it a try!
The Magical crimp forming plier from The Beadsmith is said to crimp nice round beads with tubular 2 mm crimp beads. That’s exactly what you get, and more! The crimp beads are perfectly rounded and they even shine back at you!
Yesterday I assembled one of my PMC projects, a pair of earrings. You can see my workspace to the right.
For this project I used:
- The Magic Crimp Forming Tool (of course)
- Sterling silver flex wire .019′ (0,48 mm)
- Sterling silver wire protectors
- Sterlingsilver 2 mm crimp tubes
- Swarovski bicone crystals 4 mm
How to crimp: The basic steps
Step 1
Step 2
The crimp bead should now look like a small ravioli. (four flat corners)
Step 3
Turn the bead 90 degrees and center again. Squeeze, open tool slightly and repeat 3-4 times until the bead is rounded.
Step 4
Now it should look like a round 2 mm bead!
1. 2. 3. 4.
Here I’ve assembled the earring, strung the Swarovski Crystals on to the wire, and of course put on the wire protectors. Its a very important element to add, not only will the wire look so much better but it will also be more durable later on.
Can you see how lovely the the crimp beads turned out? This Magical crimper is the tool which every serious beader needs! It improves and professionalizes your jewelry significantly. Get one if these, it will be your best friend from now on!

Wow that it the ultimate tool I must get. No more rough edges to scratch people… Love it! thanks for sharing.
Wow, something that really works! My “traditional” crimping tool is usually a hit or miss proposition, and I’ve been using one for years, so it’s not because I don’t know what it’s SUPPOSED to do. You just can’t get the follow up “round” part, so I’m always adding crimp covers—and sometimes those close slightly askew!. Hmm, one more tool on the long list—I almost collect them like beads! Thanks Teri

Tracy, I know what you mean
It’s a huge frustration when it doesn’t really work. We can be thankful to The Bead Smith I guess
Thanks for the follow-up info. I always have trouble with the crimp bead and cover. Will have to check this further, when I start beading again.
