Jump rings are made in various sizes and metals. They are used for joining decorative beads together and for attaching strands of beads to clasps. Jump rings are also used to make intricate Chain Maille patterns or for creating chains.
The trick
The secret to closing jump rings is really in how you open them. Always twist the ends open instead of pulling them directly apart. You can use two pairs of pliers or a jump ring tool.
As you close the ring, use a little pressure to push the ends slightly past each other and then bring them back into place. They should fit snugly together.
Closing seamlessly
The quality of your finished piece is dependent upon the seamless closing of your rings. The rings need to be closed so that there are no rough edges to snag, and no gaps that would ruin the lock of your finished piece.
